Life’s Purpose

It is a chilly dark morning, as I lay here in bed realizing it is only four. Too early to get up, but too wide awake to sleep. I am feeling overwhelmed with this new purpose in my life. How is it I am worthy enough? For I have not always treated myself or others with respect and kindness. I always aspired to be more attentive, loving and kind; wishing I had chosen better paths in life. An idea pops into my head. Why don’t I go to my place of comfort, my place of home, the ocean? It is there I can talk to Jesus, my Lord and Savior. He always brings me peace and calm.

As I walk along the ocean, a slight breeze is blowing across my face, the sun is out and warm on my skin. The turquoise of the water is so majestic it takes my breath away. I see a pelican in the distance sitting so regal on the pier, scanning the water for its next meal. A few starfish are floating in the shallow water, their skin glistening in the sun, a jellyfish just darting away in the distance.

There He sits just up ahead, anticipating my visit. He is not alone. Alley sits next to Him excitedly watching me approach. As I reach them, I am overcome with emotions. Emotions of gratitude, disbelief and awe that I am able to have this gift. How is it that I am worthy enough to share spiritual messages and connect people with their deceased loved ones? I try to pour out how I feel. I drop to my knees, tears washing over my cheeks making little pools in the sand. He says nothing but calmly reaches out. It is then I see He reaches his hand into my chest and holds my heart. A warm feeling rushes through me, along with a sense of calm and peace. It is then I realize I am worthy for He is in me and through Him, I can do this work.

I am now able to relax beside Him as Alley is happily sitting on my lap gazing out at the ocean. How can I ever thank Him enough for this blessed gift? I realize I need to go out and touch as many people as I can, knowing this will change their life and mine for the better. I promise Him if He keeps bringing the people to me, I will do the work. I will spread hope and love to as many people as I am able. For this, I am so humbled and grateful.
